Vitamins and Minerals For Horses

Equine Power and Equine Power Plus were formulated by equine veterinarians and nutritionists to specifically provide the vitally needed nutrients lacking in our geographic area.

The Best Horses Can't Be Wrong

Advantages:

  • Equine Power is cost effective. Instead of having to buy a separate vitamin, a separate mineral and yet an additional electrolyte supplement, Equine Power will provide your horse with all its requirements.

Safety:

  • Equine Power utilizes natural ingredients which are blended for maximal biological effect and safety. This allows Equine Power to be fed in greater quantities to horses that have a greater requirement.
  • Equine Power Prevents and treats nutritional problems with the emphasis on your horse's daily requirements. Equine Power has more of what your horse needs and may not be receiving with other supplements.

Copper, Zinc and Manganese:

  • These three minerals in proper ratio to calcium and phosphorus have been shown to be deficient in most rations and are necessary for proper bone maintenance in the adult as well as prevention and treatment of problems such as epiphysitis and contracted tendons. Complete elimination of these musculo-skeletal developmental problems has been reported to result from proper copper supplementation.

Calcium:

  • Horses on a grass hay - grain diet are especially deprived and must be supplemented. Requirements are high for the young horse and milk production in the brood mare. Performance animals need calcium for muscle contraction and relaxation.

Thiamine or Vitamin B-1:

  • A vitamin that has recently been found deficient in a large proportion of the horse population. The signs of thiamine deficiency are related to abnormal energy metabolism. Signs are variable and may include loss of appetite, weight loss, hyper irritability and nervousness. Hypoglycemia and accumulations of lactic acid are associated with muscular weakness, inco-ordination and dropped heart beats.

Vitamin E and Selenium:

  • Both work hand in hand and are needed in sufficient quantity to prevent the destruction of whole muscle cells by toxic wastes called peroxides.

Potassium:

  • An important ion that is involved in regulation of blood flow to muscles. Dietary insufficiency or loss through dehydration and sweating can result in weakness and muscle disease.
Nutritional Problems Responsive to Equine Power:

Myositis:

  • Horses that "tie up", or have their hind quarters go into a muscle spasm during or after exercise, should be supplemented with additional Equine Power to ensure proper quantities of vitamin E and selenium, calcium, potassium, and thiamine, since deficiencies in any of these can cause the syndrome

Epiphysitis and Tendon Contractures:

  • These problems do not have one single cause but a common denominator seems to be a relative mineral deficiency, especially of calcium and copper. Too much energy and protein, as in heavy concentrate rations, is also thought to be involved. Prevention includes proper supplementation of Equine Power to brood mares and growing horses.

Laminitis or Founder:

  • A disease associated with excessive carbohydrate intake and hypertension (high blood pressure). Affected horses should be maintained on low salt and high potassium diets. Biotin and methionine are important substrates for hoof repair. Equine Power Plus is salt free and therefore an ideal supplement.

Pulmonary Hemorrhage or Bleeding:

  • This lung condition appears in many race and performance horses and is related to bronchiolitis. Dietary considerations are to promote healing and maintain a low blood pressure. Equine Power meets these requirements with its high vitamin C (ascorbic acid) content and no salt.

Important:

  • If any of these problems persist you should consult your veterinarian
who may suggest additional management procedures and medications.
Equine Power Plus
Vitamins and Minerals for Horses
contains everything found in Equine Power
plus Biotin and Methionine.

No hoof, no horse. Biotin, a B vitamin, provides optimal hoof growth and horn quality.

Methionine, an essential amino acid, assures sufficient keratin sulfate is present for maintenance and repair of the hard and soft laminar bond.

Both work together to provide a strong, resilient hoof.

Equine Power Plus is an ideal choice in the treatment and prevention of Laminitis and Founder, a disease associated with excessive carbohydrate intake and hypertension (high blood pressure).

Affected horses should be maintained on low salt and high Potassium diets. Biotin and methionine are important substrates for hoof repair. Equine Power Plus is salt free and therefore an ideal supplement.
